Countdown to Turkey…48:00:00

November 23rd, 2010 by Tara Sybrant

Happy Thanksgiving!

Let the countdown begin!  It’s the Tuesday morning before Thanksgiving and I know I am ready!  Bring on the turkey, the stuffing, the pie and the pants with the elastic waist so I can eat my weight in mashed potatoes.  I am kidding, well sort of anyway.

The air in the office has just been almost electric so far this week.  It might be the impending Thanksgiving holiday and the excitement that seeing family and friends brings.  It might be the dusting of snow we received on the valley floor.  I am not entirely sure what it is.   The real reason may be that there is a long weekend ahead, but I think that it’s more than that.

This past year at Real Pro Systems has been incredible and we truly have a lot to be thankful for.   This year we have reached many milestones including a new building, all-time revenue records, our 32nd employee and more job openings to fill.   We have the distinct privilege of working at an amazing company that continues to grow and innovate, year in and year out!  The fact that it has been a tough year out there for many people is not lost on us.  It makes us even more grateful for the things we do have.

Most importantly, all of us here recognize every day that we wouldn’t be where we are today without you, our clients.  Thank you for your continued support from each and every one on the Real Pro Systems team; you are truly an amazing group of people!

Here are a just a few thoughts from the Real Pro Systems team on what they are grateful for:

Jamin O’Brien, Sales: I am thankful to work for a wonderful company that is growing and positive. I am also thankful for family and friends and that the Ducks haven’t lost!

I’m thankful that I met Galand Haas, Rob Levy, Joe Lininger and Caine O’Brien, over the past 13 years; and that I’ve been blessed with an amazing new opportunity to help the nation’s top agents improve their internet businesses using Real Pro Systems.

5 Signs You Need a New Web Solutions Provider

October 27th, 2010 by Tara Sybrant

When you are building your business online one of the most critical components to consider is your web presence.  Sometimes your website just needs your attention to make it better.  But other times, the core issue is your web solutions provider.  How do you decide when it’s time to to switch providers?  Here are five signs that it is time to look elsewhere…

1. You can’t easily update your website.

There is no question that you should have the ability to easily make changes and add content to your site yourself.  Relying on a vendor to make changes or add content on your behalf puts you at the mercy of their schedule.  You need easy to use content management tools that you can access over the web any time.  One of the greatest strengths of the Internet is the ability to get new information fast.  Your website should  incorporate a blog integrated into the platform so you can easily add “informal” content as well.

2. Your website is difficult or impossible to be found by the search engines.

There are a significant number of vendors who are continuing to use old or outdated code that makes websites practically invisible to the search engines.  You may not expect this, but some well-established website companies use technology that is so outdated, that a modern search engine can’t actually see the content it contains!  When your website is built correctly and you make frequent content updates, it can climb in the search engine rankings.

3. You built it yourself

It might be that you were persuaded by a website provider’s promise of zero setup and ended up with a DIY or Do It Yourself website or it might be that you found what you thought would be great software at a great price.  Remember you get what you pay for… However you ended up building your own site, there are components you miss out on when your site isn’t built by a professional.  It could be any number of things from search engine optimization issues, to the lack of follow up tools that would be present if your site was designed by a professional.

4. Your website takes too long to load.

If your website pages load slowly your visitors will have a poor experience and form a poor impression of your services.  .  Sometimes your web vendor doesn’t have adequate server capacity, and sometimes the web page design is outdated or poorly executed, resulting in slow load times.  Either way, this reflects on you, or you need to take action to correct this.

5. Your website is out of date (design and/or functionality.

Are you embarrassed to show your website?   Is your branding fresh and appealing?  Websites that are old or poorly designed reflect terribly on you and your business, giving only negative impressions.  Having a well designed, fresh, attractive and functional website conveys the right message and makes for a great user experience!

Imitation is the Sincerest form of Flattery!

October 26th, 2010 by Caine O'Brien

In the summer of 2009, Real Pro Systems introduced its Real Pro Platinum product to complement the lineup of Real Pro Silver and Real Pro Gold.  These three agents systems from the core of our business and our marketing messaging.

In the spring and early summer of 2010, we further refined our messaging to identify the kind of agent(s) being targeted by each system.  Specifically, we described:

RPS Silver – intended for the “up and coming agent”

RPS Gold – focused on the needs of the “experienced agent”

RPS Platinum –  intended for “team or broker”

This approach has made it extremely easy to describe our products and align them with the needs of agents who are investigating our offerings.  Recently, another large company in our space has launched their Fall 2010 promotions, using the following language:

Silver XSite– a starter site for new and part-time agents

Gold XSite- an enhanced site for full-time top producers

Platinum XSite – for brokers, teams or managing multiple sites

On the one hand, there’s nothing new under the sun, so it’s no big deal.  On the other hand, the positioning couldn’t be more obvious as copying our work.  We’re honored.  We just hope that agents looking at both offerings are not confused or mislead.  More to follow!
